About Irene Dickson Illustration

Thank you for popping by and having a look at my work!

I feel so lucky to be making picture books for younger children these days as it is something I dreamed of doing since I myself was very little.

I gained my first degree in Graphic Design and Illustration from Glasgow School of Art, and have been working at designing all sorts of things ever since: from corporate identity, marketing and websites to interior graphics and stained glass, as well as creating my own range of bespoke wedding stationery.

When by chance, I discovered there was an MA course in Children's Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art, I knew that I had to pursue it, and haven't looked back since graduating in 2014.

I like to use a variety of techniques and materials to create my illustrations, often combining hand drawn line with screen printed textures, coloured pencils and watercolours, edited using photoshop for the final images.

I currently work from my home studio in the truly beautiful rural county of Herefordshire.
